Complete Truffle Dog Scent Training Kit

The Terra Ross Truffle Dog Training Triple Kit combines three complementary scent sources for introducing and training dogs to recognise the characteristic aromas associated with black and white truffles.

Important: the components of this kit have different intended uses. The fresh truffle is a non-edible scent-training material. The two truffle-flavoured olive oils are edible food products suitable for human consumption but are offered in this kit primarily as canine scent-training aids.

What the Triple Kit Contains

  • 100 g fresh black truffle scent-training material
    Whole fresh Tuber aestivum or Tuber uncinatum, depending on the season and availability. Vacuum packed and intended exclusively for canine scent training.
  • 100 ml white truffle-flavoured olive oil
    Edible olive oil with white truffle aroma, suitable for human culinary use and offered primarily as a consistent scent source for canine white truffle training.
  • 100 ml black truffle-flavoured olive oil
    Edible olive oil with black truffle aroma, suitable for human culinary use and offered primarily as a consistent scent source for canine black truffle training.

How to Use the Fresh Truffle

Place the fresh truffle inside a securely closed, ventilated scent-training container. The dog should detect the aroma through the container without gaining direct access to the truffle.

Do not allow the dog to lick, chew, tear or swallow the fresh truffle.

The fresh truffle is not food, animal feed, a dog treat or an edible reward. Use the dog’s usual suitable reward separately after a successful search.

How to Use the Truffle Oils

Apply only a few drops of the selected oil to a cotton pad, scent holder, training dummy or another object used specifically for scent exercises.

Place the scented material inside a secure, ventilated training container and hide it in an appropriate training area. Begin with simple, easily accessible locations and gradually increase the distance, depth, environmental distractions and difficulty.

Do not allow the dog to drink directly from either bottle or consume an uncontrolled quantity of oil.

The oils are edible food products, but they are not intended to serve as pet food, dietary supplements or unrestricted dog rewards.

Fresh Truffle Transport and Storage

The fresh truffle is a perishable biological training material. It is supplied vacuum packed and may be transported without active refrigeration for up to 72 hours.

Refrigerate the fresh truffle immediately upon receipt and store it at 2–4°C.

Keep the vacuum package sealed until the material is required for training. Once opened, use it immediately and discard any unused material after the training session.

Do Not Use the Fresh Truffle If

Do not open the package and discard the fresh truffle immediately if:

  • delivery has taken more than 72 hours from dispatch;
  • the vacuum seal is broken or no longer present;
  • the package is swollen, leaking, punctured or damaged;
  • visible liquid is present inside the package;
  • an unpleasant or unusual odour is present;
  • there is any doubt about the condition of the material.

The fresh truffle component is not intended for human or animal consumption.

Truffle Oil Storage and Culinary Use

Keep both oil bottles tightly closed and store them according to the instructions printed on their individual labels. Protect them from excessive heat and direct sunlight.

The oils are made from edible ingredients and may also be used by people as flavoured finishing oils. Add a small amount to pasta, risotto, potatoes, eggs, sauces or other savoury dishes.

General Safety

  • Always supervise canine training sessions.
  • Keep all components out of reach of children.
  • Prevent uncontrolled access by animals.
  • Wash your hands after handling the fresh truffle material.
